2008 Roth IRA eligibility is based on your filing status as well as your modified adjusted gross income or AGI.

 

2008 Roth IRA Eligibility if you are married and filing jointly:

If you are married and filing jointly (or you are a qualified widower) and your adjusted gross income, AGI, is less than $159,000 then you are eligible to make a 2008 Roth IRA contribution. This is an increase from the $156,000 threshold in 2007.

 

2008 Roth IRA Eligibility if your filing status is Single:

If you are filing as single, head of household and your AGI is less than $101,000 then you are eligible to make a 2008 Roth IRA contribution. This is an increase from the $99,000 limit in 2007.
